1. Introduction

This policy explains what personal information Teechly collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. It applies to everyone who uses the Teechly website — parents, students, and teachers.

2. Information we collect

If you enquire about a teacher

  • Your name and WhatsApp/mobile number
  • The teacher you enquired about and any message you send

If you register as a teacher

  • Name, email address, and WhatsApp number
  • Qualifications, years of experience, subjects, classes, syllabus, and languages
  • Certificates or qualification documents you upload
  • Profile photo, cover photo, and introduction video, if you provide them
  • Your teaching mode, state, and profile description
  • Subscription and payment records (handled by our payment provider — see section 5)

If you leave a review

  • Your name, mobile number (used to verify the review by OTP), rating, and comment

Automatically

  • Basic technical data such as IP address and browser type, and session cookies needed to keep you logged in

3. How we use your information

  • To display teacher profiles publicly so parents can find them
  • To pass enquiries to the teacher you contacted
  • To verify teacher applications before publishing a profile
  • To send WhatsApp messages such as OTPs, enquiry alerts, and account credentials
  • To verify that reviews come from a real mobile number
  • To manage teacher subscriptions and billing
  • To keep the platform safe and investigate misuse or reported contacts

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising by third parties.

4. What is publicly visible

Approved teacher profiles are public. This includes your name, teacher code, photo, qualifications, experience, subjects, classes, syllabus, languages, teaching mode, profile description, intro video, and any reviews you receive.

Depending on your plan, your WhatsApp number may be shown to visitors so they can contact you. Please do not upload anything to your public profile that you would not want publicly visible.

Parent and student enquiry details are not public. They are shared only with the specific teacher you contacted, and with Teechly administrators.

5. Who we share information with

  • The teacher you contact — your name, number, and message
  • WhatsApp Business API (Meta) — to deliver OTPs and notifications
  • Our payment provider — to process teacher subscription payments. Full card details are handled by them, not stored by Teechly
  • Our hosting provider — which stores the site and database
  • Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information

6. Information about children

Teechly is intended to be used by parents and guardians, not directly by young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child without parental involvement. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. How long we keep information

We keep teacher profiles and account records for as long as the account is active. Enquiry records are retained so teachers and administrators can follow up and resolve disputes. If you close your account or ask for deletion, we remove your data unless we are required to keep it for legal, tax, or safety reasons.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls on the admin panel. No online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • show you the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your account and associated data;
  • stop sending you non-essential messages.

Teachers can update most profile information directly from the teacher portal. For anything else, email us using the contact details below.

10. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to run the site — mainly to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will always reflect the current version.
